NORDPLUS Horizontal Creative Environmental Education / CEE Network’ Partners Gathering, Riga, Latvia
October 25 – 28, 2019
Agenda
All information subject to change 22.09.19
Local Community – Agenskalns
- Area of main activities, see Google map: Agenskalns.
- About the area: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%80genskalns
- 7-9 km from Riga Airport
- ~ 3 km to Riga Old Town (4 bus stops)
- The main gathering place address is Ernestines Street 8A, Riga, where the environmental science school and garden is and Environmental Education Center activities will happen for us.
Accommodation suggestions
- If you take Airbnb, look for the area name Agenskalns and there will be very nice offers.
- Hotel Two Wheels. In old wooden house, little bit alternative, but really cozy:), I like to have dinner there, http://www.twowheels.lv/hotel.html, and it is 4 min walking distance to the main place.
- Janne Hotel. In old wooden house complex, it is a little bit farther, but they have fantastic owners and thy do urban beekeeping as well as urban gardening. If someone stays there, I could contact owner for little excursion around the hotel yard. http://hoteljanne.lv/en/photos/ , ~17 min walk or you can take trolleybus and make it in 7 min.
- Hotel Monte Kristo. https://hotelmontekristo.lv/rooms/?lang=en , it will be ~ 10 min walk. Do not know much about this one.
- Park Inn Riga Valdemara. More conventional choice. 🙂 https://www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/park-inn-riga-valdemara It will be 11 min walk
- You also can choose Old Town to stay (just some stops), but you will have to cross bridge, that can be in traffic jam.
Bus or Taxi from Riga Airport
Latvian Uber is BOLT – very cheap. https://bolt.eu/eng/
If you come from Airport please use BOLT App, not Taxes who waits for you…you will save a lot of money. Or the best way to get to Agenskalns is Buss no 22, it will be around 15-20 min and you will be in the district you need paying 2 euro.
So tickets in public transport will cost 2 euros, you can by almost half a price at kiosks or/and post offices.
